2010 Hunua bike race ... January 23rd starts at Clevedon and circles the Hunua Ranges via Miranda, Kaiaua, Orere Point and returns to Clevedon.

2010 Hunua Bike Race

Thanks to those who have volunteered their time and resources to assist with the running of this race.

The race will involve some 1000 plus riders.

The race starts at Clevedon and runs through Hunua, around to Miranda, Kaiaua, Orere Point, Kawakawa Bay and back to Clevedon.

The radio base is at the A&P Showgrounds, Monument Road. Base will be operational from 6.30am.

Base callsign will be CLEVEDON BASE

Please check in to base when you are on the way to your position.

We will be using the AREC cross band repeater.
In the field you will operate on 147.575 simplex.
At base the down link frequency is 438.750 simplex.

Your communications will be confirmed from base.
If you do not get confirmation consider your communications has NOT been received at base.

You are asked to report the first rider or group of riders and if possible, the lead riders number if can get it... (or another lead rider).
The message may be... 'Clevedon Base from 1 ... 10 riders ... first rider 231 ... over'
You will send this first message, and 2 more, one when the next large group pass your position and the last when the sweeper passes your position.

Your position will be marked on rider maps and they will be aware that they can stop at your position to call for medical assistance. Pass messages to base with information on urgency etc.

Please remember that there are 14 operators in the field and as such, messages are to be brief and kept to the point... so please plan your message prior to pressing the PTT.
