ASSOCIATE, Friends of WARO and DX MEMBERS

Associate Members:

Are YLs who do not have a transmitting licence, they are always welcome and usually take part in WARO activities especially the WARO get togethers which are quite often held in conjunction with Amateur Radio Market Days and Annual Conference.

DX Members:

Are overseas members of WARO sponsored into WARO by ZL members and at 30th. April 1996 the DX membership stood at 112. These members are from many countries, many long time friendships have been formed between the ZL WARO members and their DX sponsors. A number of ZL WARO members have been fortunate to visit their DX sponsors in their home countries or to have them visit New Zealand.

We were very fortunate to have the privilige of a visit from one of our more famous WARO DX members at the AGM at New Plymouth in June 1994. Dr. Ellen Baker KB5SIX, an astronaut with NASA sponsored by Dianne ZL2USO.

If you are interested in sponsoring a DX member let our Sponsorship Secretary Celia ZL1ALK know, Celia will be very happy to find a suitable person for you to sponsor. At present it costs $5 per year to sponsor a DX member into WARO.

Friends of WARO:

Are husbands or OMs who would like to support WARO it cost them $10 membership each year and they receive our WARO bulletin every three months.
