Pye Remote Control Unit

 

The Pye Remote Control Unit (RCU) was used to provide remote control of single channel base station radio equipment. The unit provided loudspeaker output with volume control the microphone was a Pye model 4002 desk microphone. Tjhey were manufactured by Pye Telecommunications (NZ) at Waihi.

Used in medium sized stations (operations rooms) during the late 70s and early 80s.

The two units pictured above were at the Takapuna police station and provided access to VHF AM mobile radio and the 139 MHz beat radio channel (Channel "C") used by the GEC Courier beat radios until they were replaced in 1981.
