Even though Australia is one of our close neighbours and even cheaper to get there than to get to our own South Island I don't often make the trip across the Tasman  (known locally as "crossing the ditch").
One of the major reasons for going across to Australia at least once a year is the
Moomba festival held in Melbourne.
Above is one of the Australian hopefuls contesting in the Slalom event.  I had the priveledge of being involved, from a technical point of view, a couple of years ago in helping out in the Jump event by automating the calculating of the distance jumped using computer techniques.
