2000 NEW HAMPSHIRE QSO PARTY ANNOUNCEMENT - FIRST WEEK END IN FEBURARY ============================== NEW HAMPSHIRE QSO PARTY The New Hampshire QSO Party is sponsored by the New Hampshire Amateur Radio Association (NHARA) to promote Amateur Radio Activity within the State of New Hampshire. ============================== OBJECT: To provide an opportunity for Amateur Radio Operators to contact and exchange QSO information with as many other Amateur Radio Operators as possible during the published contest time period in accordance with the rules of operation. RULES OF OPERATION 1. Operation will be in accordance with current FCC rules. 2. The use of spotting nets, by way of repeaters, packet nodes, simplex operation, telephone or any other means is prohibited in all categories of operation. 3. Operation on all bands and modes is permitted, except on 30 meters, 17 meters and 12 meters. Use of repeaters is prohibited except in the case of packet contacts which may be through a local node. Amateur satellite transponder operation is allowed. 4. Stations may be worked once per band per mode. The digital mode includes CW, RTTY, Packet and all other non-speech modes. The phone mode includes AM, SSB and FM. 5. The NH QSO Party will begin at 0000Z on the first Saturday in February (7pm Friday local time) and end at 2400Z Sunday (7pm local time). Stations may work any 24 hour period during this 48 hour contest. Station down times must be for a minimum of fifteen (15)Minutes. Down times must be clearly marked in log. 6.. All logs must be submitted no later than 31 March of the year in which the contest takes place. For purposes of clarification , separate logs may be submitted, if desired for each mode. Dupe sheets are required for all stations submitting more than 200 contacts. 7. Any station not abiding by any of the rules will be disqualified. BONUS POINT STATIONS: Bonus Point Stations are representative stations of the various clubs within the State of New Hampshire. Bonus Point Stations may work unlimited hours during the 48 hour contest period. They earn the contestants 5 points for a phone contact and 10 points for a digital contact. The callsigns of the Bonus Point Stations will be published in the annual rules and stations volunteering as Bonus Point Stations should make a serious effort to be on the air during the contest. Bonus Point Stations compete only against other Bonus Point Stations in their respective category. Designation of a Club Bonus Point Station must be approved by a pre-announced deadline to be published by the QSO Party Chairman. EXCHANGE: New Hampshire Stations Send signal report, county and New Hampshire. (example: 599, Co"s, New Hampshire) Non-New Hampshire Stations USA Stations -- Send signal report and State. (example: 59, Texas) Canadian Stations -- Send signal report and Province. (example: 599, Quebec) DX Stations -- Send signal report and Country. (example : 59, Ireland) CATEGORIES FOR AWARDS: NON-CLUB CATEGORIES: Single Transmitter QRP (less than 10 Watts entire period) Single Transmitter Low Power (150 Watts or less entire period) Single Transmitter High Power (more than 150 Watts anytime) Multi Transmitter QRP (less than 10 Watts entire period) Multi Transmitter Low Power (150 Watts or less entire period) Multi Transmitter High Power (more than 150 Watts anytime) 50 MHZ and above All the above categories Mobile Station operated from a vehicle the entire operating period Awards will be issued to the highest scoring station in each of the above categories as well as the highest scoring station in each category in each county, state, province and country which submits a log with at least 5 QSOs . All stations not indicating power will be placed in the High Power category. CLUB (BONUS STATION) CATEGORIES Small Club (less than 50 members) Large Club (50 members or more) A station may enter any of the non-club categories and also contribute its score to the score of a club of which the station operator is a member in good standing. While operating under a club callsign, as a Bonus Point Station, a station will not earn contest points towards its individual station score. Awards will be issued to the highest scoring stations in each category as well as the second and third place winners. Sponsor's Award Special recognition may be given, at the discretion of the NHARA, to those stations which show a significant effort beyond the norm. SCORING: New Hampshire Stations Count one (1) point per phone QSO with any station Count two (2) points per digital QSO with any station. Count five (5) points per phone QSO with a NH Bonus Point Station. Count ten (10) points per digital QSO with a NH Bonus Point Station. Non-New Hampshire Stations Count one (1) point per phone QSO with any NH Station. Count two (2) points per digital QSO with any NH Station. Count five (5) points per phone QSO with any NH Bonus Point Station. Count ten (10) points per digital QSO with any NH Bonus Point Station. MULTIPLIERS: New Hampshire Stations Your multiplier is the number of NH counties, states (excluding NH)*, VE provinces/territories and one (1) DXCC country (excluding USA, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii)** worked. All additional DXCC countries worked do not count as multipliers. They do count as contacts. A maximum of seventy-two (72) multipliers is allowed: 1 DXCC country 49 States 10 NH counties 12 Canadian Provinces 72 Multipliers * Washington DC QSOs count as Maryland Contacts ** Maritime mobile contacts should be counted as a QSO but not as a multiplier Non-New Hampshire Stations Your multiplier is the number of New Hampshire counties worked. FINAL SCORE: Multiply the total QSO Points times your multiplier to arrive at your final score.. ADMINISTRATION: The NHARA shall annually appoint a QSO Party chairperson and a representative club whose responsibilities shall include the publication of the NH QSO Party announcement in amateur radio magazines, journals, newsletters published by the NHARA affiliated clubs and any other publications deemed appropriate. This published information should include the contest rules, contest date, hours of operation, suggested operating frequencies, a listing of the official NHARA affiliated Bonus Point Club stations and any other issues of importance. The QSO Party chairperson will also oversee the receipt of all logs and has the final authority to resolve issues relating to the rules of the contest and the tabulation of aggregate club scores. The QSO party Chairperson with the help of the representative club shall be responsible for the proper tabulation of contest logs. The QSO Party Chairperson is also responsible for the issuance of all NH QSO Party awards. RULE CHANGES: Any changes to these rules must be approved by a majority vote at a regularly scheduled NHARA meeting.
