Old New Year Contest
The SRR ("Union of Russian Radioamateurs") invites radioamateurs
worldwide to participate in the OLD NEW YEAR CONTEST.
The unusual combination "Old New Year" is a part of Russia's history.
Until February 14, 1918, in Russia we used a calendar which has a
13 days difference with the modern one. When the country moved to the
modern calendar, many people continued to celebrate the New Year using
"old style date". The tradition still exists and we usually celebrate
both New Year om January 1st and Old New Year on January 13th.
In this year we had in CIS countries ONY Contest and we invite everyone
to join us in 1999. This contest will also celebrate 74 (!) years of
amateur radio in Russia.
