| 1. Name of Contest | The 21st KCJ Contest. |
| 2. Eligibility | Single operator amateur stations and SWL worldwide. |
| 3. Period | Starts 1200z on the third Saturday of August, ends 1200z on the next Sunday. (from 1200z 19, Aug., until 1200z 20, Aug., 2000) |
| 4. Mode | CW only. |
| 5. Categories | For participants in Japan(JA's): Multiband, each single band and SWL. For those in overseas (DX's): Single operator-Multiband and SWL |
| 6. Suggested frequencies | 160m through 10m, except WARC Bands. Suggested frequencies: 1.908- 1.912 MHz, 3.510- 3.525 MHz, 7.010- 7.030 MHz, 14.050-14.080 MHz, 21.050-21.080 MHz, 28.050-28.080 MHz. |
| 7. Exchange | From JA's: RST plus Prefecture/district code. From others: RST plus Continent Code |
| 8. Invalid Contacts | a. in cross-mode or not CW. b. by crossband, via repeater or satellite. c. for JA's : QSO by or with multi-operator stations. DX's : QSO between non JA's. |
| 9. Scoring | a. Points : For each complete contact in each band, JA's : one point with JA's, 5 points
with DX's, DX's : one point with JA's. b. Multipliers: Each prefecture/districts (and continents for JA's) worked in each band. c. Final score: Multiplying sum of points by sum of multipliers. |
| 10. Log instruction | a. Each entry must be accompanied by the summary sheet showing all scoring information,
category of competition, name and address of the participant in BLOCK LETTERS. b. Logs should be indicated date, time, band, callsign and exchanges both sent and received. c. The time must be expressed in JST by JA's, and in UTC by DX's. d. Multipliers should be clearly marked in the log only at the first time worked on each band. e. Points should also be clearly marked on each valid QSO's, and marked zero on the duplicate or invalid. f. A floppy disk formatted by MS-DOS and recorded as a plain-text file comprising ASCII codes will be wel- comed. Use your callsign as the filename, such as JA1QSO.SUM (summary sheet), JA1QSO.TXT or JA1QSO.LOG (LOG sheet). The floppy disk will not be returned unless being requested by the entrant g. Files of SUMMARY sheet, LOG and your message may be sent via e-mail as a united plain text or encoded attached files in MIME format. |
| 11. Awards | All logs will be collated with each other to result ina final score, multiplying sum of the
points confirmedby sum of the multipliers confirmed. Certificates will be awarded to: a. the upper 5% ranking in each category. b. JA's: The top in each prefecture/district area and the upper half ranked in each category. c. for DX's: The top in each DXCC-entity, each state in USA and each province in Canada, getting not less than ten points. |
| 12. Disqualification | Disqualification will be caused by: a. Duplicate counting points and/or multipliers exceeding two percent of the number of QSO's. b. Violation of amateur radio regulations or the rules of this contest. |
| 13. Deadline | Logs and a summary sheet must be mailed via air or e-mail to be received by "KCJ Contest Committee" by the end of September. |
