| GALAȚI RADIO AMATEUR's |
| The begining of the Amateur Radio at Galați is in the times between of the two world wars. The documents of those times mention that in Galați were licensed Constantin Haltrich, YR5CH, George Grigorescu, YR5DR, Gheorghe V. Ioan, YR5DS and few others. Unfortunately, today nobody have clear informations about those times, except of a pile of QSL of the sames.
After the second world war, the Amateur Radio activity in Romania was lawful just in August 1949. During of 1954, was established a radioclub in Galați, under authority of AVSAP, a paramilitary organization of Comunist Party. Mr. Gabriel Schumschi, YO4ZL, the chairman of HAM RADIO Club, veteran of those times, parole himself with a history of the Galați Amateur Radio.
Today, here in Galați, are most than one hundred of hams, and two radio-clubs. Thanks to exertion of some of us, here are working a digipeater and a repeater, both in VHF, covering a shaft about of 100 km and more. I don't want to be partial, so here you'll see aspects of activity from the both sides, that in time together single-handed heavy efforts for a mighty traffic. Some of the following photos are from various hams, some are of my, choosed from a large collection. |

On the 27 April 2002, in the cultural capital of Romania, Iași, at the Culture Palace, hams of this old city and the Romanian Amateur Radio Federation, organized a manifestation for the World Amateur Radio Day titled: Radiocommunications and Amateur Radio - the past and the future.
Into the towered biulding, architectonic monument of earlier 19th century, nearby four permanently museums and a interactive ehibition with Easter eggs, the hosts presented us a exhibition of radio gears of all times that incite to various comments. In the "Henri Coandă" chamber, some hams had the opportunity to present in the front of the participants some of their achievments. The staff of FRR and the hosts talk us about Amateur Radio history in this city and about some features of radio traffic, in the past and in present. Thanks to Mrs. Lenuța Chiriță, director of Technical Museum, all the guests had free acces inside of it. in the front of doors of Electric & Telecomunications Section, as a joke, she said: "Till now, you had my explanitions, now I'll have your explanations". And wasn't iddle talk! Many exhibits awakening remembrances to the vets and the curiosity of the youth.Photographers: YO4PD, YO4ZZ, YO4BII, YO4REC, YO4RLP |
