Hello, my name is Aurelian Varlan, as short Relu. Born at 14 Nov. 1966 in Onesti, a city placed at the foot of Oriental Carpathians. I am living in Galati, a city old more than 2000 years with more than 350,000 inhabitants, in SE of Romania, on the left bank of Danube river. Here is a big trade center, port of Danube, a railroad junction and important industrial zone (iron and steel industry, shipyard, pisciculture and more others), and not at last, a university center. I work at Iron and Steel Complex, named now ISPAT SIDEX, the biggest industrial unity in SE of Europe, as mechanical fitter. My wife, Mariana, is she also licensed as YO4SLP and she works as accountant. Together, we wait a little baby, which probably will be born in May 2003. I had my first contact with the radio amateurs in 1978, at Pioneer's House. However, a long time I couldn't dedicate to this activity because I had to finish the school. After graduate and my military service - 52 Division AAA - I took the SWL license as YO4-20255. From 1996 I am YO4RLP, now 2nd class (Advanced).
	I am member of HAM RADIO Club, a local non-profit organization, interested to broach the Amateur Radio from a human viewpoint, to preserve some good maners that impose on this activity all over the world. The members trends are not only for homebrew and traffic but to promote/publishing their work results or promotional manifestations.
To me, Amateur Radio means independent communications, means radio traffic - doesn't matter how. It means, also, to have knowledgements about the communications techniques, to build and to master your own equipment, as much as simply it is, but, more important, to do contacts. The essence of our evolution and civilization was, along of time, and still is, the communications. From the cave man to the modern man, many societies failed down or grow up because of that. Just see the history book. Radio communications and the information systems are the big achievements of our century. Today, nobody can imagine the life without that. In this frame, the radio amateurs have their place. I don't want to be pathetic, but from the first bilateral connection over Atlantic, at 28 nov. 1923, they have rights in this world.
