Dear YLRL Members
Due to a misunderstanding about a vote taken in Long Beach over
increasing the dues and the following discussion about by how much,
we forgot to put the vote to increase the dues in YL Harmonics when
we put the choices in. A ballot on whether to increase the dues,
and choices on how much will be in the May/June issue. This will
allow comments to be made to the President and the Board of
Directors.
Since dues must be collected to pay our expenses for YL Harmonics, we will continue with the same membership fees until a vote has been taken following the Procedures in the By-Laws. This may necessitate the omission of the July/August issue of YL Harmonics. In 1981 there was a ballot initiative that passed stating that the cost of YL Harmonics could not exceed 3/4 of the monies collected from dues. By not adhering to the will of the membership expressed in that vote, we have exceeded the 3/4s for several years. This has placed YLRL in a deficit position which must be resolved in order for us to go forward and survive.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

President, YLRL 2000-2001
The 1999 Ethel Smith Memorial Scholarship winner was April Rodgers N3PPU. Due to all the convention activities and other happenings in YLRL, this information was not mentioned in YL Harmonics last year. However I want to make sure we recognize April and her information will be in a future issue of YLRL. A picture and a brief biography about her will be placed here in the coming days.
