Hi Jo, I have not been QRV on topband as 10 weeks ago I moved to a new QTH. Hope to have the antennas up soon. From my computer records I have worked the following YB stations and perhaps this may be of use to you.

Well Jo, I did some little 160 work back in about 1987-90 using a quarter wave sloper from my 20 meter tower in Surabaya. Not very successful due to a noisy band I managed to work 9M2, VS6 and YB0. On one ocassion, I tried for VK8 and I was heard there 59 + but I could not even hear the VK8 - we checked on 75. Bob, W7TSQ (ex-YB3ASQ)

Dear Jo ,I am sorry for giving you a wrong info. The callsign of the station worked was YB5ASO and operator was John Sharpe. He now lives in Houston ,TX , USA. His former address was c/o AMOSEAS ( DELTA RUMBAI) ,Killney Rd. P.O.Box 237 ,Singapore 9123. QSL was received from W4BBP , equipment was an IC-720 A and PA - FL-2100.Ant - Colinear. Hi OM Jo, Pada tahun 1982 s/d 1986 John Sharpe menggunakan YB5AES, Tahun 1986 s/d 1990 callsignnya diganti menjadi YB5ASO, jadi orangnya sama. home callnya kalau tdk salah W5AU, John kembali ke America pd tahun 1990 dan terakhir saya ketemu John di 40M CW QTH di San Fransisco, CA, namun terakhir saya dengar sdh pindah lagi, namun saya akan coba minta informasi kalau bisa dapat alamatnya.John ini Amatir maniak, sejak umur 20 tahun dia sdh jadi HAM, dan terakhir dia pindah umurnya sdh 61 tahun, dan hobbynya di CW saja dan DXCC 160m di Rumbai , Pekanbaru, sekitar 150 countries lebih.  Jo, in 1986 Yuswirman YD8QYM was interested in 160. At that time he was in North Sulawesi. He would have some local information on activity around that time. Except for YB0ARA, there is a remarkable absence of Indonesia 'spots' before you became active. I don't know how long Lance (Low Band Monitor) keeps his 160 'spots' on file, but if he does keep them he could maybe do a quick search. I started checking through 1996 manually but gave up after not finding one! Good luck with your project. Bob VE7BS

 Jo: I had some correspondence with Yuswirman, and know about the YD8 regulations. I forgot to mention YB8AX. I have his card from 1988. John was QRV on Bunaken Island and often had a good signal with 100W. 73, Bob VE7BS

You and YB0ARA/9 have basically been the key players in the recent past. I do not recall hearing anyone from INDONESIA except you two fellows. My friend W0YG runs a Packet node and when we ran a search for YB and YC a few months ago YC0LOW and YB0ARA/9 were the only calls heard for five years on top band from Colorado. You are RARE in Colorado. If I come up with any additional call data I will contact you. 73, Lance, K0CS

Hi Jo: I checked QRZ-DX for 1994 and 1995 and DX=MB (German DX Bulletin) for 1994 and 1995, there was no listing for an active YB stations on topband. When I get a chance, will check other bulletins and old CQ magazines listing 160 meter DX contest. Looks like YB was very rare on 160 meters. Art, N2AU
