OPERATOR'S MAINTENANCE

8.1 Operator's Preventive Maintenance

Operator's preventive maintenance is the systematic care, servicing, and inspection of equipment to prevent the occurrence of trouble, to reduce downtime, and to assre that the equipment is servicable.

  1. Systmatic Care. The procedures given in paragraphs 8.3 and 8.4 cover routine systimatic care and cleaning essential to prper upkeep and operation of the equipment.

  2. Preventive Maintenance Checks an Services. The daily preventive maintenance checks and Services chart (para 8.3) outlines functions to be performed daily. These checks and services are to maintain Army electronic equipment in a combat-serviceable condition; that is in good general (physical) condition and in good operating condition. Toassist operators in maintaining combat serviceability, the charts indicate what to check, how to check, and the normal conditions; the References column lists the illustrations, paragraphs, or manuals that contain supplementary information. If the defect cannot be remedied by the operator, higher category of maintenance or repair is required. Records and reports of these checks and services must be made in accordance with the requirements set forth in TM 38-750

8.2. Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services Periods

Paragraph 8.3 lists preventive maintenance checks and services that must be accomplished daily or under the following conditions:

  1. When the equipment is initially installed.

  2. When the equipment is reinstalled after removal for any reason.

  3. At least once a each week if the equipment is maintaind in standby condition.
