This just in from the desk of Abb Starr (N8IBK), activities director for Hatfield & McCoy Amateur Radio Assoc. The reunion went well, and lived up to all expectations. Rain, lightning and sunshine played their part in the feud too. As for our club, we did great, our day started at 8:00 am. at the Matewan depot replica (if you haven't seen that place you are in for a treat, the feud, massacre and N&W replica stuff take my word go see it.)
A special thanks are in order for Sheila Miller director of the depot and other events for her support of our Association. We sold Hatfield and McCoy hotdogs, a special chili was prepared by our chef and fellow radio person Gina Tussey (KF4ZMC), seems like everyone wanted them there hotdogs. At 8:00 p.m. we went to Buffalo mountain to host the Hatfield & McCoy special event station under our club callsign WV8KY, about 100 contacts were made. Canada was the furthest contact that was made.
A special card will be send to all contacts made.
A special thanks to Bill Davis for helping with the site at the trail head.
Thanks to the people of the area for their support.
