Follow these instructions as carefully as possible.
It is assumed that you know how to use your Windows Explorer, File
Manager or equivalent app:
1) To use 4nec2, first download the program from https://www.qsl.net/4nec2/
Go to the upper left-hand side of the page,
scroll down to where it says "Downloads".
You can choose either "4nec2.(setup.exe)" or
"4nec2 (zip-file)".
2) In Windows, just install as per normal for your Windows version
In Linux, use Wine. I have few, if any, problems
with either 1.5.15 on Linux 32-bit or WINE_5.11-portable64
on Linux 64-bit.
On Mac OS, you should be able to run it with any
utility that runs a Windows executable.
Once you launch 4nec2.exe, you can open up many
NEC models that are located in the /4nec2/models/
<subfolders>.
From the menu, click on the little icon in the
upper left-hand side that will "Open NEC file". Alternately, using the menu-bar,
"Files>>Open 4nec2 in/out file".
Check out numerous antenna examples. These
should launch and display results.
4) The examples given in the above PDF are included in the zip file: NEC_Antenna_Files.zip Hint: Download the NEC_Antenna_Files.zip
file. You should copy it to your
/4nec2/models folder and unzipped there.
That way, it will create a folder for you named "
/NEC_Antenna_Files/ " and then unzip all the .nec files into it.
This keeps these .nec antenna files separate from the
ones provided by 4nec2 itself.
5) Follow the information in the pdf
(Antenna_Simulation_4nec_1.pdf) .
