My Apachy Gun Case

I wanted to have a nice carrying case for my pistols and ammo for carrying them to and from the range, and for any traveling. Harbor Freight has some nice cases, that have what is called plug and pull foam, that allows you to make a custom case for your guns.

I purchased the 3800 Case from Harbor Freight, and set it up for my (2) 9mm Pistols and ammo, plus space for my M1 Carbine ammo. It turned out pretty nice. After I removed the sections to make the recesses I wanted, I saw a few places would only be separated by a narrow row that did not provide much support. I very carefully flexed them to put some glue in the slits. I used Elmers Glue, and it did just fine after setting . Make sure you let it dry good, and spray the plastic dip over it to add strength and prevent any flaking. Let the glue dry for 24 hours before spraying any coating over it. After they dried, I sprayed a very thin coat of plastic dip over all the recesses, then the flat surfaces and let it dry. The solvent in the spray will damage the foam if you do it too heavy at first. After the 1st coat dried, I put a few heavy coats on it. When it was dry, it was very solid. Here is a photo of it with my 2 9mm, magazines for them, and for my M1 Carbines. There are also 2 50 round boxes of 9mm and 30 Carbine ammo, and a Uplula Magazine loader. This will be handy carrying to and from the range, or traveling.

These cost around $39, but you can find coupons on line, and in there sales for $29. Great Case, and great price. Take the extra step and spray it with Plastic Dip when you have it the way you want it. You can get it at Wal Mart, or any car parts store for $5 to $10 a can. I used a full can on mine to make it extra firm.

On mine, the magazines I use for my pistols are too long for only making the storage point a single layer, and 2 layers puts it too deep to make grabbing them easy. I put a piece of foam in the bottom of those holes to make them about 3/4 the depth and glued them in place, then put a layer of duct tape under that area to provide added strength. I also put duct tape under the areas where the pistols and ammo sits, to provide added strength. I did add 1 more magazine slots for each pistols since the above photo.

This shows you how to set up your case.
Make sure to spray it with Plastic Dip when done
