Camp Castle was built on a 48.6 acre site in Tongducheon and home to the C Company, 2nd Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. 70th Support Battalion, and Maintenance, Distribution Company. Camp Castle is one of a few bases still operating in South Korea. Camp Castle is located relatively near Camp Casey. A major highway splits the camp in two different parts. One covers the general facilities, the barracks, and the officers. The other parts hosts the motor pool, A huge bridge was constructed in 2002 to connect both parts of the camp togerther. Camp castle hosts around 630 individuals. Close to 500 of them are military troops coming from the United States. The rest are contractors for local services. Camp Castle is to be returned to the R.O.K except for Camp Castle North.
