Doe, I'm also sending you the packet that each class member received. Use any or all of it. I sent 98 notices with stamped envelopes for reply. 17 people didn't reply and 41 said no they couldn't make it. The packet contains remarks from several of the 41 people. We had 3 members deceased since 1997 reunion. We had 1 letter returned because it couldn't be delivered. Could any one receiving the DB'er furnish an address for Juanita Patrick Hughes? We had 35 members replying yes "I'll be there." These 35 along with spouses was 53 people. We also had 4 guests: Bobby Cifers, John Bell and wife Ann and C. G. Clemmer for a total of 57 people. We had one newly wed couple; Jim Watkins and "Poggy" Penn. I recall at our 50th reunion, Jim was kissing all the girls. There was no kissing this year. We also had Gurney Freeman show up. It was the first of our reunions he has attended. I know of 4 living teachers from 1943. C.G. Clemmer, who was present, Margaret Butler in nursing home in Pulaski, TN, Lucille Masengill in nursing home in Church Hill, TN. Also Kathryn White Smith, our typing teacher, who lives in Columbus, OH. She sent a nice card that I failed to get until after the reunion. A copy enclosed. If anyone wants any of these addresses please write to me: Darius V. Eaton, 215 W. Main Street, Morristown, TN 37814. If any of you DB'ers know of other living teachers please let me know. Buford Kilgore came with his brother Howard Kilgore. He brought Joann Allen Macintosh. Joann said it wasn't a date . . . she just needed a ride. Doe, it was fun and enjoyed by all. Hope you can make it next year. Sincerely Yours Darius V. Eaton ‘43 Keeper of School Store PS. Do you remember 5 cent coca colas? |
