Santa Bárbara

Santa Barbara Island is the smallest of the 8 Channel Islands. It was named by the Spanish explorer Sebastián Vizcaíno who landed on 04 December 1602, Saint Barbara’s Day. Because there was no fresh water, the native Chumash Indians did not live on Santa Barbara, although they did stop here to rest on inter-island voyages. This was the first activation of this island, April 2000, and my fourth Channel Island.
La Isla Santa Bárbara es la más pequeña de las 8 Islas de la Mancha. La dió su nombre el explorador Sebastián Vizcaíno quien desembarcó el día 04 de diciembre de 1602, el día de Santa Bárbara. Como no había agua dulce, los indios nativos Chumash no vivían en la isla Santa Bárbara, aunque descansaron aquí en viajes entre las islas. Esta era la primera actividad de esta isla, en abril 2000, y mi cuarta Isla de la Mancha.
