East Brother
East Brother Island is located in San Francisco Bay between San Rafael and Richmond. The lighthouse was one of eleven established in San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Strait, and was first lighted on 01 March 1874. When the Coast Guard planned to tear down the old Victorian and place a beacon, local residents formed the non-profit East Brother Light Station Inc. to restore and preserve the buildings. Today it is a Bed and Breakfast and those funds are used to maintain the site. Keepers Captain Gary and Ann were very accommodating to having a ham radio operator operate from East Brother.
La isla East Brother está ubicada en la Bahía de San Francisco, entre San Rafael y Richmond. El faro era uno de once establecidos en la bahía de San Francisco y el estrecho de Golden Gate, y fue iluminada por la primera vez el 01 de marzo 1874. These two islands are called “The Brothers”. There is also another pair of islands in another part of San Francisco Bay called “The Sisters.”
