SSTV is
an interesting mode. You not only get to
talk to the ham at the other end, but see him too.
I've had only a few SSTV contacts ( still not set up
for quick switching between voice and digital ), but
I still got a kick out of it. Even monitoring the signals
is fun. Seeing the color images slowly scan from the top to
bottom
until the image is complete can be exciting. The image to the
right
is the first time I saw my callsign being sent back to me via
SSTV.
IØJMH, in Italy, was my first SSTV contact. The
bottom two images show the picture I sent and how
it looked when IØJMH sent it back to me. It lost a
bit during the trip to Italy and back. Jet lag? |
