The Wheaton Community Radio Amateurs participate in Field Day every June at Panfish Park in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
As an exercise in emergency preparedness and communications, Field Day allows hams to test their skill in setting up
and operating amateur radio stations in the field.  Planning is essential, but the ability to overcome unforeseen problems
that occur in a simulated emergency operation is every bit as important.  Amateurs compete, in a friendly way, with
hams across the US and Canada to contact as many different stations, on as many different bands and modes as
possible.  Mother nature doesn't always cooperate (hardly ever in fact) but Field Day goes on and those who attend
have a great time.  Make it a point to come out and see what it's like for yourself.  You may start out as a spectator,
but you will soon be a participant and by the end of the weekend you will have become a seasoned veteran.
