I've used ferrites in both the power and ground connections when I wanted
total isolation from the main part of a card, such as a small analog area in
a big ttl card. To do this, it is necessary that the signals into and out
of the isolated area are done differentially. Single ended signals will
cause ground lift effects. It's also necessary that no other signal traces
are referenced through this isolated region.
