Thanks Allen. I have a fairly good idea about ground bounce. What I was not sure about was "why having a ferrite in series with GND would cause ground bounce"

regards,
Dilpreet

Dilpreet,

Doug Brooks has some excellent articles about ground bounce in his
"Brookspeak Articles". Goto :

http://www.ultracad.com/articles.htm

and look for "Ground Bounce, Parts 1 and 2".

Also, if you have "High-Speed Digital Design : A Handbook of Black Magic",
by Dr.Johnson and Dr.Graham, there's an excellent explanation of ground
bounce starting on page 67 (section 2.4.1.1).

Hi Marc,
Can you please comment a little bit more on Why would a ferrite in
series with GND cause the ground bounce.

regards,
Dilpreet

From experience, a ferrite in series with GND will cause a ground bounce on
the board. If you're using DC coupled signals to other circuits in the
system, these signals will see their reference point change.
