  Hello,

I am currently working with HSPICE and while trying
to set up a simulation at 1GHz using the W element,
with the HSPICE internal field solver, I noticed that
the effect of the trace width was almost neglected in
the simulation.
The traces are stripline on FR4 material, and when I
used 7 mil or 12 mil, the results did not differ too
much.
I assume that the skin effect is not properly
accounted for, or the conductivity of the dielectric
is not correctly set up.
The only parameter set for the METAL, according to
HSPICE manual, was the conductivity, while for FR4 I
have used the Er=4 and the losstangent=0.02. The only
parameter which I am not sure of is the CONDUCTIVITY
of the dielectric. According to the FR4 data sheets,
it should be about 1e-10, which seems to be far too
small and not good at higher frequencies.
So can someone please advice me which value I shall
use for the FR4 dielectric conductivity at 1Ghz?
If you have also other comments about the setup of
the HSPICE field solver, please let me know.

Thank you very much,

Alex
