That CAN work, but it has to really be "ground", not just a piece
of metal that might have a "ground" connection somewhere.
Otherwise, you've just made 2 2X+ larger value capacitances in
series rather than 2 capacitances to "ground" as you intended.
So you've actually made things worse.

That is, 2.1*C0 || 2.1*C0 = 1.05*C0.

Properly stitched with vias, it can work quite well at
RF/microwave frequencies.
