Mark,

M1, a software product of ASA, can work with a real-time scope to emulate a
time-integral-analyzer. It takes time-domain jitter pretty well, like
cycle-to-cycle jitter, and can do quite a few math manipulation since all
the time-stamps are captured by the PC. If you are more interested in the
frequency-domain jitter analysis, Wavecrest (http://www.wavecrestcorp.com/)
may have the edge. They claim picosecond accuracy and femtosecond
resolution.

Hi Mark,

There is a paper by Mike Williams given at one of the DesignCons that
addresses just this. Its pretty cool. He owns a company called ASA
http://www.amherst-systems.com/index.html I suspect answer depends on what
resolution you want.

Subject: [SI-LIST] : Measuring PLL jitter

Does anybody have any good recommendations on how to accurately
measure jitter from a PLL?
I have used HPs 5372A Frequency and Time Interval Analyzer in
the past. Any opinions on whether this is a good way of
measuring PLL jitter?

Thanks,
Mark Nass
