Juniper Networks (Mountain View, CA), a startup building
Internet/wide-area-network systems, is looking for a signal integrity
engineer, with industry and/or graduate level experience.

An exciting opportunity to get involved in electrical and optical high-speed
design of communication hardware.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To develop signalling solutions for high-performance communication hardware,
by applying sufficiently advanced circuits and technology
while guaranteeing robust signal integrity and timing.

Specifically, on a system level, to provide noise-avoidance and timing
methodology. For components, to help in the selection of IC technology
(I/O's, clock distribution), packages, board technology, PLL's,
electrical and optical interconnections.

In the course of the project, to initially perform the necessary analysis,
suggest and evaluate competing technologies. By developing noise and
timing budgets, to propose routing rules. During the design phase,
to run field solvers and SPICE to update the budgets and the resulting
rules. Finally, in the lab, to perform measurements using
high-speed scopes and TDRs to verify operation and to verify assumptions
made in earlier parts of the design.

Requires
- BS in EE (MS or Ph.D. preferred)
- a solid understanding of circuits, analog behavior, and
transmission line fundamentals
- demonstrated practical expertise in signal integrity,
in such areas as interconnect technolology, packaging,
measurement techniques
- experience in high-speed system design for all project phases,
preferrably in the communications field
