An early comer to the prairie is the Pasque
Flower. Long before the other flowers bloom in late June or in July,
this beautiful flower buds then displays its beauty. At Retzer Nature
Center there are usually several examples of this flower near the overlook
at the top of the Hillside Trail. There you will find several other
kinds of prairie plants and flowers so look around carefully.
Often there are examples of the Pasque flower
in the small, rock lined garden maintained on the west end of the Retzer
Nature Center building for those not able to make the trek up to the top
of the hill. |
