| Many cities have
excellent examples of 19th and early 20th century Band Stands including
my home town of Watsonville,
California or modern equivalents made to look similar to those designs
like the one in Monona,
Wisconsin (adjacent to Madison).
This odd, but intriguing variation, came about
when a new band stand was scheduled to be built in a park largely surrounded
by the Hispanic and Latino community in Denver. The Aztec-like theme
finally agreed upon provides a unique juxtaposition of both the intended
functionality and recognition of our cultural and historical diversity. |
