Technical Support Specialist for DataTrax Systems Aug 1995 –
Nov 1999
Located in the Raleigh Technical Support & Training
Center, I provided Technical Support for Exide Electronics Fiels Technicians
when servicing the DataTrax System. The
system was an Intel computer running Intel’s iRMX DOS (a real-time DOS) and
communicating with UPS system and other data sources in the customer’
facility. Later renamed Foreseer and
moved to Microsoft’s Windows NT platform.
I also provided training for Field Technicians and wrote the first
Service manual for the product.
Received 1998 Operational Excellence Award. (Award Letter, Desk Trophy)
NOTE: BTR merged with Siebe, BTR-Siebe was renamed Invensys. Exide Electronics name changed to Powerware
Corporation.

Primary responsibility was to provide IT services for Field

little computer skills but good people skills.
Most IT people have good computer skills and poor people skills. I was the go between, taking care of the
people bring in the profits to pay the overhead (IT people).
Business System Analyst Jul 2000 – May 2002
NOTE: Invensys outsourced its IT (Information Technology) group to IBM. Most Powerware IT employees became IBM
employees still located in their Powerware offices.

NOTE: IBM and Invensys ended their IT outsourcing agreement, returning the IT
group back to Powerware.

By far the
BEST Job that I had was working at Exide Electronics. I started in the Factory testing UPS
(Uninterruptable Power Systems) before they shipped to customers. I learned a lot doing that. However I have been given a love for Field
Service work by my High School Electronics Instructor, Jerry McMullen. He had done that work before teaching and talked
about it. I took the opportunity when
asked, and moved over to the Field Service Organization in September 1985. This was the work that I loved. There were long hours, travel every day
throughout NC, NC, & VA. But I loved
it. However after 10 years, it was time
to move on and spend more time with my bride, (Susan) and we are still
together.
