Slit and Glue Bends for Coaming

To bend a heavy 3/4" x 1" piece of Ash takes a lot of force, I have done it but frankly it is more work then it is worth. just rip a slice down where the piece must really take a bend, put glue in the slash and Clamp, Tie, Tape, or all the above, the piece into place till the glue dries. ( this is real messy, put paper down.

NOW the clamps. Take a 4" PVC pipe, cut it into 2" pieces,and the slit the piece so you can pull it open. These are good clamps and they are cheap. You will need about 20 to 30 clamps and while you will need a few expensive ones you don't need 30 of them. Using the pvc clamps will save you a lot of unnecessary expense.
