BVARC met on April 24, 2010 at the Utica Fire Dept. Martin-AC0OM , President called the meeting to order with 14 members & 3 guests present. Two new members joined, Mike Luttig-KD0KCG from York and Kevin Leapley-KA0TPQ of York.
Minutes were read & approved.
Martin-AC0OM and Wayne-AE0O reported on their visit to the York General Hospital to check on the Hi-Gain antenna that is there. It isn't in very good shape and needs to be replaced. Martin said a new one would cost 69.95 plus shipping. Gloria-KA0BOC made a motion to see if York will put a new antenna in their budget for their radio operation and if not, our club could go ahead and buy one for this. Seconded by Vicki-N0LBP (carried) We need to find out what the Hospitals expect of our club during emergencies. There is an online course for training session for operating radios at Hospitals.
Bill-WA0RMH is to speak to Laura McDougal at 4 corners and see what they want from our club.
Jan France from Simple Times Solutions, of Utica talked to our club about installing an antenna on our 440 tower, in Utica, on the side as high as we would let them. Annually renewable and it would be DSL or fiber optic. Motion made by Vicki to have Jim-WB0PKY take care of the Simple Times Solutions project. Seconded by Bob-KD0XB (Carried)
Martin reported he had copy of rules and regulations for Field Day. Bill-WB0SIP will get logging program for us.
Next meeting will be May 22, at the 1st street Bar & Grill, in Utica. at 2:00 P.M.
