Did
an overseas stint in the military as an Intercept Operator at RAF Kirknewton,
located
a short bus ride southwest of Edinburgh, Scotland.

After
RAF Kirknewton closed, transferred to parent post,
RAF Chicksands
in Bedfordshire, England.
Now here
is an antenna any contester would walk barefoot over broken glass to have.
The
'Sands closed a few years ago and the antenna dismantled.
Somewhere Uncle
Sam has
got this thing stored and will probably auction it someday.
Still
had some reserve time, commissioned a 2LT in the Infantry at OCS, Ft. Benning,
GA.
Thereafter
spent all my time in tanks. Remember the Bn. Commander saying, "Lieutenant,
I'm assigning
you a Tank Platoon." First time, I looked inside a tank,
thought to myself,
"oh,
oh, I'm in trouble now." A tank's no place for any decent
'grunt'.

Graduated
from the University of Minnesota, '79.
Moved
to Las Vegas and became KC7DM.
Became
active on HF bands again in '97.
Moved
to Elko, Nevada in July '99, renewed
the ticket,
Nov. '99, and also got the W7GK
callsign.
