W7A Working Group Notes
June 4, 1998 Meeting at Hardee's on 10th Ave. So.
- Those in attendance were KQ7K, KC7LRF, KC7OA, KC7OD,
WQ7B, KE6NVV, W7MBV, WB7TNH.
- The first topic was the actual location of the primary
Special Event Station. There were two options. Option one
was operating on generator power at the FWP park just
east of the FWP Regional Headquarters building on Giant
Springs Road. Option two (plan B) was to operate with
commercial power from the GFAARC club house. The Group's
consensus was to operate from the FWP location. George
KC7OD & Shirley KC7OA graciously donated the use of
their motor home & on board generator for the
operating position.
- The need for a banner with the GFAARC name & call was
discussed. George KC7OD mentioned that he has some banner
material that could be painted over to make a banner at
very little cost. Shirley KC7OA mentioned that she has
made a banner several years ago & if it could be
located would work nicely. Coleen KC7LRF volunteered to
attempt to make a new banner using the materials from
George KC7OD. Bob KQ7K also mentioned that he has price a
2 color banner for about $150.00. The idea for the new
banner is to incorporate the clubs new call sign and the
ARES & ARRL Special Service Club logos along with the
clubs name in large letters. Thoughts of passing the hat
around the club were kicked around also.
- The Group also discussed the QSL issues. Certificates?
QSL Cards? Full color? What to do? Several options were
discussed with the pros & cons of each. The Group
agreed to kick the options around.
- The Group took a field trip to the FWP operating sight.
Preliminary placement of equipment etc.. was discussed.
It was mentioned that parking and access to the location
may be an issue. (count on it!)
- Bob KQ7K also mentioned that operators for July 4th may
have to be able to pass a Secret Service background
check. Also on this day operators will have to park
outside of the area and walk into the stations. This
could be quite a hike!
- Bob KQ7K also mentioned that he is attempting to gain
sanction for use of the official LCIC logo. The Official
logo is the Compass Rose which is 'inlaid' in the lobby
of the Center. The decision will be made at the next LCIC
Board meeting on June 9th.
- The W7A Working Group members agreed to meet on the air
after the next Tuesday night ARES net.
- I think that about covers it. Let me know if I missed
something. 73 Bob KQ7K
