SUBJECT:      Weather Net

I want to thank those who participated in today's "impromptu" weather net -- both on the Caprock repeater and the MegaLink. Everyone operated very professionally.

In particular I want to recognize KD5ZMD, Steven.  So far as I know, Steven was the first to report to the NWS in Albuquerque the first of three funnel clouds/tornados .  Steven went to the MegaLink frequency and was in contact with WX5ABQ (NWS -- Keith Hayes) and others while occasionally updating the rest of us via the Caprock repeater.

Additionally, Steven took approximately fifty pictures of the tornado with his digital camera.  I've seen the photos and they are very good.  He is making a CD to send to Keith.

I will print copies of Steven's photos for our next ARES meeting, which coincidentally will be a SKYWARN training session presented by Keith Hayes.

Thankfully the damage reported so far is minimal -- some torn-up sheds in the Dexter area.
