Subject: CARES Drill Results
Our "Battery Powered" Drill was held as scheduled on Saturday, 6 March 2004.
A simulated Incident Command Post (ICP) was set up in the Guadalupe mountains in southwestern Chaves County. A simulated Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was established at the Cahoon Park PVARC clubhouse in Roswell. The drill was managed from the ICP. Two VHF nets and one HF net were established.

144.39 MHz APRS 28 beacons heard at ICP, 1 message received from Clovis
5 SE NM counties (Chaves, Lea, Otero, and Lincoln -- Curry on APRS)
2 West Texas counties (Lubbock & Lynn)
5 Packet node/digipeaters successfully exercised (BUCK,CAPROK,CAPILA,RRIO,SAF)
2 Packet node/digipeater failures (SMYER and LBB01)
5 Terminal stations connected (W5ZU,AD0Y-1,W0ZW-1,W5ALL-2,W5ALL)
8 Packet messages transmitted and successfully received
6 Packet messages "printed-out" at EOC for delivery to client agencies
1 Message from ICP gated to e-mail by the packet system
Total duration of drill 1-1/4 hour
