Last Battle of the Civil War Special Event Station

The CHARRO Special Event station operated in Port Isabel, Texas this year near where the Federal encampment was housed during the Civil War. Please, if you made contact with us last May, please QSL with a SASE to the address below (or the call book address) and we will send you back a certificate and a QSL card. Since Port Isabel is home to one of the largest shrimp fleets in the country, we had 20 pounds of the best shrimp in the world on the Barbie and in the fryer,  so if you missed the event, you can catch up in November and if you are in the area, stop by for lunch.  Talk-in on 147.040. More info on the Last Battle.

Special Event:  2004

The Return of the Snowbirds Celebration aboard the USS Iwo Jima, docked in Rio Hondo, Texas at the Texas Air Museum

Here are a few photos of the Snowbird Special Event we held at the Texas Air Museum in 2004. The museum closed in 2005 and this was the last event we held at the Texas Air Museum.  Here is what the new web site has to say about the Rio Hondo collection: The Texas Air Museum of the Rio Grande Valley in Rio Hondo, Tx, closed its doors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2005. The Texas Air Museum will continue to operate museum facilities at San Antonio, Slaton, and a new location in Snyder, Texas. The bulk of collections currently housed there will be moved to these locations. At this time, we would like to say thank you to all those who have supported our museum in the Rio Grande Valley. We have enjoyed being a part of your lives for twenty years.
