Hilltop Transmitter Association's
DX Marathon Challenge
  • The club started the W3ZGD DX Marathon in 2008 to stimulate on-air activity and have fun DXing. From the beginning there were substantial scores submitted by several members. Participation in the challenge dropped off in 2014 and the challenge was suspended the following year.
In addition to CQ Magazine's basic rules, the Club addded features to recognize and encourage participation from members who enjoy VHF DXing
  • The club added Grids worked (four character locator square; ie FM19) on any band or mode above 30 Mhz to the local marathon.
  • The purpose for the expanded club marathon is to encourage VHF/UHF experimentation and activity, recognize the difficulty and technical accomplishment of working DX above 30 MHz, and maximize club participation
  • Each grid locator square worked only counts once irregardless of mode or band.
  • Contacts via repeaters or any type of relay system (ie echolink) do not count
  • This aspect of the marathon is strictly an internal club activity and not part of the overall CQ magazine sponsored DX marathon.
