Susquehanna Valley Amateur Radio Club

SVARC Hamfest 1941

Welcome to the Susquehanna Valley Amateur Radio Club. The SVARC is an ARRL affiliated club, with a long history dating back to the late 1930’s. The purpose of our club is to promote amateur radio by providing community service and a place for amateur radio operators to gather and share a mutual interest in ham radio.

We participate in several on-air radio activities such as Field Day, the Pennsylvania QSO Party, and a weekly VHF Net. Our members pursue a diverse range of interests in amateur radio. Some that include Contesting, CW, Digital, DX, Packet, and Amateur Radio Emergency Service, as well as mentoring new and experienced amateurs.

In addition to our VHF net, we have also started a "Winlink Wednesdays Net” for anyone interested in learning and practicing Winlink. You do not need to be a member of our club to participate. For more information or if you’d like to be added to the Winlink net roster, please contact James Heath KC3OXN at [email protected]

We have approximately 30 members who come from all walks of life, including doctors, lawyers, military veterans, electrical engineers, communications technicians, corrections officers, and a variety of other backgrounds. Some have no prior experience in electronics or communications, however all have a large variety of experience and knowledge to offer.

It is a common interest in amateur radio that binds us together. We keep up with current technologies and share that information with other members through the use of presentations at our meetings, our newsletter, and continuous communications on our
