So ... an aluminum rain gutter?! I thought I would give it a try, there was no planning or research, I just connected the center conductor to the gutter with a sheet metal screw, and a star washer
I
The bottom "goop" is where the coax center connector is attached, then I added a wire strap between the first two sections, just to make sure.
I waterproofed it, and also connected the braid to a 6 foot ground rod. I have about 8 radials in the flower bed under the mulch
Fortunately, the downspouts are insulated from the ground by PVC pipes
Since using this setup, I have:
13 New Countries on 10M
14 New Countries on 20M
60+ Countries on 40M and 80M
35 States on 160M!!!
Finished DXCC in CW and Phone
Completed WAS Mixed and CW
In an effort to follow the maxim "Get more wire up" I ran a wire from one side of the gutters, to the other side, about another 75 feet of wire..
It starts here, under the waterproofing "goop"

and crosses the garage to the downspout on the other side
The flashing on the apex of the roof line might be connected, I don't know.
After all the work, I have not been able to notice any difference, but it makes me feel better!
In the end, I have (3) 25 foot vertical sections all connected by about 100 feet of horizontal wire and gutter.
I can cover all bands with the internal tuner
in my rig
but do get some RFI at some power levels.
