This is The Laurel Highlands' Silver Anniversary -- 1974 - 1999
Following two and a half decades, we think some recognition is in order!

After all, LHVHFS was one of the first amateur VHF repeaters in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Actually, we were fourth to come on the air:

  • Johnstown 34/94
  • Churchill 22/82
  • Munhall 37/97
  • LHVHFS 07/67

But wait! LHVHFS was 1-st on ATV 421.25!

And, we'd like to think that just maybe our lead had some part in the numerous later 2m machines that proliferated in the late 70's....at least, maybe we got 'em interested, hi, hi!

Then, too, we participated in emergency and public service communications tasks:

  • The Johnstown Flood of July 1997. WA3TVG spent at least one night at Lee Hospital in Johnstown where he waded through water chest high in the corridors. Others from the Society made the trip to Johnstown and provided vital communications for that disaster, a number going for several-day stints.
  • The tornadoes which struck Greensburg and Kingston
  • Connellsville's Youghiogheny River Races
  • Connellsville Hospital -sponsored races
  • Mt. Pleasant Annual Fireman's Fair Parades

So, pardon us while we toot our own horn for a minute or two, then we'll get back down to the business of the next 25 years.
