England (Zone 14):  This contact was made on 20M SSB just after local sunrise.  Clint was located in Alum Bay on the Isle of Wight.  He was running 10 watts into a doublet antenna.   Alum Bay is the location where Marconi erected the worlds first permanent wireless station in November 1897, exchanged messages with a Steamer at sea on December 6, 1897, and transmitted the first paid telegram sent by Lord Kelvin in June 1898.  This historical site is currently being run by members of the West Wight Radio Society.
