CATS Meeting Minutes 2023

- Secretary Neil W3ZQI presided over the meeting and read the minutes
  of the December meeting.

- No treasurer's report.

- Chris AB3WG: Introduced as MDC Assistant Section Manager and ARRL 
  Affiliated Club Coordinator.

- Jim WI3N: Tom W3TOM is retiring as Atlantic Division Director--ARRL.

- Towson ATV Report: Ken K3UQQ: In contact with Ed N3GXH of BRATS for
  clearing out the storage facility this month.  Ken likes simplex
  testing of new stations as opposed to done through the repeater. 

- Laurel ATV Report: Jim WI3N: Still looking for a new site.  One
  potential available site would be tight for space.

- Pennsylvania Linking Project: Rich KR3EE: Electrical cables have been
  run at the Woodland site; waiting on electrical meters. Estimate: two
  weeks for equipment setup.  CPIN net had two outages.  The project is
  looking toward King of Prussia and Wilmington.  Master Controller (to
  coordinate repeater linking "traffic" is proposed to be Manheim, PA.

- 900 Mhz. Project: John K0ZAK: 900 band beacon image was shown live.

- BRATS: Neil W3ZQI: Synopsis of recent BRATS meeting.  Mention of
  Comcast Public WiFi feature for Comcast customers as an Internet
  solution.  ATV repeater design and building assistance is sought
  by BRATS--CATS voted in favor of such support to BRATS.

- Secretary Neil W3ZQI presided over the meeting and read the minutes
  of the January meeting.

- Rich N3MOB read the treasurer's report.

- 900 Mhz. Project: John K0ZAK: no amplifier yet.  One is coming.

- 10 meters Digital: 10 meters now quiet.  Fred K3TAZ is now active.

- Towson ATV Repeater: March site visit still planned. Omni-directional
  antenna for digital reception is a priority.  Concern for equipment
  considering existing daily long operating hours. Computer access and
  control was discussed, including Internet connection.

- Laurel ATV Repeater: Jim WI3N: Looking at rack space in Laurel EOC
  as possible site.  Antenna situation favorable.  Considering
  addition of Internet-based features.

- Pennsylvania Linking Project: Rich KR3EE: Two dead trees removed in
  order to improve line-of-sight.  Meters installed.  Discussed
  intended radio equipment and antennas to be deployed there--group
  responded favorably.  Spoke of backup steps to insure completion of
  the project.  Several Pennsylvania area ATVers are lined-up to
  provide ATV content when the link goes live.

- Critter Reports: Rich N3MOB: One chicken remains; camera installed.

- Remote Base Demonstration: John K0ZAK: demonstration of capabilities
  and breadth of Internet-based remote ATV operations.

- Secretary Neil W3ZQI presided over the meeting and read the minutes
  of the February meeting.

- Rich N3MOB read the treasurer's report.

- Laurel ATV Repeater: Jim WI3N: Discussed rack space equirements for
  the repeater with possible placement at the Laurel EOC.

- Towson ATV Repeater: Ken K3UQQ: The March site visit was planned:
  repeater ID revision, audio cable connection, antenna work.

- In-person meetings: Ken K3UQQ and Fred K3TAZ will explore a library.

- Pennsylvania/MD Linking Project: Rich KR3EE: Shed wiring plans made.
  Necessary equipment to be ordered.

- Reflections on the recent passing of Tom W3RCJ.

- 900 Mhz. project: John K0ZAK: has an amplifier; Harry KO3L to assist
  with lending a modulator.

- Internet capability at repeater sites: An upside is enhanced control
  of digital modulator settings (save site visits).
