Antenna System

Due to restrictions of the Homeowners' Association in the development that I live in, I am not able to put up any antennas outside the house.

I tried several configurations using mobile antennas in dipole configurations, including a 16-foot long 75-meter antenna (effective 2:1 SWR bandwidth of about 10KHz).

Finally, I broke down and bought a SGC SG-230 antenna coupler. This miracle marriage of computer technology and good old-fashioned relays allows me to use one 80-foot loop of 8-guage wire on all bands from 160 to 10 meters. Hit the key for a second or two, and the coupler matches the loop to the coax at the feed-point. I love it! No more switches, no more tuner, and a lot less RF in the shack due to radiating coax.

The antenna works well at high frequencies (particularly 10 and 15 meters), but at lower frequencies, the ratiation angle is fairly high. I have done some simulations using EZ-NEC that demonstrate this.
