QRP Activity - With the success of building and "playing" with Budd's (W3FF) wonderful Buddipole, Jim continues to be active on 17 meters with the HFPack group on 18.157.5. There is growing activity also on 15 meters at 21.437.5. Anyone wishing a schedule from IOTA NA-055, send Jim an e-mail. New to his QRP collection is an SG-2020 ADSP that Jim purchased from Hank K8DD. Being a little sturdier and up to 20 watts out (if needed), it has found a new home in Jim's 1973 Series III ex-military Lightweight Land Rover (below) with Budd's new commercial version of his Buddipole. He enjoys combining his love of Land Rovers (encouraged by son Andrew) along with hamming. In addition to a mount for the High Sierra HS-1500 off the rear, Jim has mounted a 17 meter Hamstick for quick jaunts out into the woods.
Our trek this Summer - July 7-14 2003
We centered around central Oregon and Washington State. We operated from "Rough Rider Ranch" located between Mount Hood & Mt. Adams (photos) as well as other nearby areas of interest. We had a family gathering at Andrew's cousin Heidi and Ward's home in White Salmon Washington across the Columbia River from Hood River, Oregon.
Using his Buddipole Antenna, Jim makes a 40 meter qrp contact with antenna inventor Budd Drummond, W3FF, from Rough Rider Ranch in White Salmon WA - Mt. Adams is in the background.
Aunt Lila - Motorcycle Man Stoddie - Andrew
