Welcome to all those schools and students utilizing this wonderful hobby in your classrooms! An equally hearty welcome to those of you who have yet to experience this unique educational tool. Please contact us at [email protected] if you would like assistance in developing such a program for your school. You may also contact the Education Department directly at The American Radio Relay League.

        Jim Wins MDI Hospital’s EMT of the Year Award

EMT of the Year Jim Wilmerding, a Paramedic with the Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service was awarded EMT Of The Year honor at Mount Desert Island Hospital’s EMS banquet.

Mr. Wilmerding has served with the Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service as an EMT since 1987. He currently works as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic for Bar Harbor Fire Department. Praised for his work ethic and commitment to quality pre-hospital care, Mr. Wilmerding was presented with a plaque by Sid Salvatore, RN, MDI Hospital’s Emergency Department Director.

The annual banquet also featured presentations by Dr. Norm Dinerman, Chief of Emergency Medicine at Easter Maine Medical Center, and Medical Director of Lifeflight of Maine, and Rick Petrie, Regional EMS Coordinator.

MDI Hospital also presented Certificates of Appreciation to ambulance services that served the Hospital throughout the year. “Tonight we honor our local heroes,” said Ms. Salvatore. “Your dedication and skill enhance what we in the Emergency Department at MDI Hospital do.” (MDI Hospital News)
