Business:
New Advisor Needed: The club is still seriously looking for a new faculty advisor and and trustee. Then need not be the same person, but it is important that a trustee is found soon since the club license expires shortly.
Budget: The SAFC was submitted. The budget request was as follows:

We should know the results within about two weeks.

Keys/Dues: Discussion about whether the club should start charging dues to offset decreasing funding. Steve notes that SAFC encourages clubs to charge small dues. Dues could be charged on a yearly basis to all those with keys to the station. This might also help reduce the number of keys in circulation. On the subject of keys, we should get the lock fixed as soon as possible as we have 70-80 keys out with many not used in years.
R-390 Sale: The sale of the R-390 has been approved. We must check on the price. Matt noted that he had seen one sell fast for $250, so that was probably too little. Also suggested was that we post it to E-bay with a $250 reserve and direct interested parties there. We also must test it before selling.
VE Testing: Next session is March 23, 1998 at 7:00 P.M. in 230 Rockefeller. Congratulations to Katie for earning her tech-plus license at the January session.
Contests: Several club members would like to participate in contests this semester. Upcoming contests include:

Misc.:

  1. The leaky radiator and roof have been repaired, but the station is in need of cleaning.
  2. More discussion of possibly holding a hamfest at Cornell. Perhaps in April?
  3. Nobody knows the status of the Alinco radio that is being repaired by the manufacturer.
  4. Matt was going to see about getting Dr. Volts to come to speak.
  5. We need to take a good club inventory.
  6. We should be ready to install ethernet. Must look into getting a domain name.

Activities: Contest schedule and other relevant event schedules can be found on the CARC web page.
Next Meeting: February 18, 1998.
