January 21, 1998 Meeting Minutes

At the meeting (1-21-98):

Business:
New Advisor Needed: The club is seriously looking for a new faculty advisor and and trustee. Then need not be the same person, but it is important that a trustee is found soon since the club license expires shortly.
Budget: The SAFC has reimbused Charlie for the purchase of the battery charger and crystals. Spring budgets will be coming up shortly. Items suggested for the SAFC budget request are:

• phone bill payment
• ethernet installation fee
• honoraria for a guest speaker
• insurance payment for club equipment
• lock repair for the club shack

VE Testing: VE testing was discussed. Next session is January 26, 1998 at 7:00 P.M. in 230 Rockefeller.
Contests: Several club members would like to participate in contests this semester. Upcoming contests include:

• 2-13 to 2-16 novice CW
• 2-13 to 2-16 RTTY WPX
• 2-21 to 2-22 ARRL DX CW
• 3-7 to 3-8 ARRL DX Phone
• 3-8 to 3-9 WPX Phone

Misc.:

1. Pictures taken during the repair of the vertical on Barton roof were shown.
2. The station is in need of cleaning and the leaky roof needs repair.
3. All in attendance agreed that the club should pursue selling the R-390.
4. It was suggested that the CARC hold a hamfest at Cornell.
5. Nobody knows the status of the Alinco radio that is being repaired by the manufacturer.
6. Charlie freed up an extra pair at the club station for ethernet.
