WHO AM I ?

I am John Aldrich, W1WLG. I hold an Extra Class Radio Amateur Radio Operator License, first licensed in 1949 as WN1WLG. To view my photo click here.

I am a member of the ARRL(American Radio Relay League.)Career work included: Electronics Teacher and Director of the Newport County Vocational Center. I retired in 1987 from Vocational-Technical Education after 30 years.

I am very involved with computers and Amateur Radio and I belong to both the Newport County Radio Club and the Fort Myers Amateur Radio Club. Ham Radio has been a life long interest. This led me to my first job as an electronics teacher in a Vocational-Technical School. Ham radio has brought me much pleasure and close friendships. Through our traveling and with Ham Radio, Paula and I have found good friends around the world.

My favorite modes of communicating is SSB on 15 meters.

I've made many QSO's over the years with "ham radio" operators all over the world. During the past two years World-Wide Radio Propagation has been poor but fortunately I am able to maintain contact with my Ham Friends via digital communications. My XYL Paula and I live in Rhode Island in the summer and I live in Fort Myers, Florida in the winter.
