General Overview

Welcome to the Stratford Amateur Radio Club webpage. We're glad you dropped in today.

The Stratford Amateur Radio Club {SARC} has a long history. The club was formed over 60 years ago with the belief of providing service to the local community and enhancing amateur radio. Today, this belief continues. The club maintains a fully operational station with equipment for the HF and VHF bands. In preparation for emergencies, the club participates in the annual ARRL Field Day Event. Additionally, the club keeps its operational skills honed by planning, scheduling and implementing several on~air Special Events per year. Read our history and view our photo galleries. We QSL 100% via the Callbook address.

During October 1998, a very successful Special Event was conducted on board the Lightship Nantucket LV-112 netting over 400 contacts in the log during an eight hour period. You can check for your callsign. Two HF and one VHF station were implemented in the radio room, yeoman's station and the pilot house. The LV-112 has historical significance in that it was the largest of the fleet during the lightship program and that it was stationed the furthest at sea at the Nantucket Shoals Station. The on~air event generated terrific interest and certificate requests from 50% of the contacts.

The SARC is an ARRL Affiliated club.

The club membership roster is a make up of various ham radio interests. The range of interests include HF, VHF, UHF, RTTY, Packet, Contesting, Antenna experimentation, Lowfer band operation as well as other areas. We do not run a repeater.

Membership in the SARC is open to all that exhibit an interest in amateur radio. Being a licensed amateur is not required. Sponsorship for membership is normally required. Visitors are always welcomed. Membership information can be requested if you are interested in membership.
